An Unwelcome Guest

I got back from Vegas and a visit with Don and Randy at 3am this morning. Too tired to write much more tonight. But I know one thing: I would not want to live there. It's too damn hot!

This afternoon I spotted a sleeping bat in my dining room. That's never happened here before, and I assume he snuck in with me last night. I was able to don my leather gardening gloves and remove him. He was not happy about it. ;)

Wow, a bat! You're braver than I would have been, showing (taking) him to the door :)

I have experience dealing with bats. My parent's house has them in the attic. When I lived there, I had one in my room within two weeks of moving there.

They are pretty oblivious to anything during the day. I had turned on a fan before I saw him, and he didn't stir. He was hanging from a baseboard, so I just grabbed him and took him outside.

OK, I'm sorry, but I think that's all sorts of awesome when really cool wildlife randomly shows up in your house. :D

I like wildlife, but not in my house.

My tiny, secluded backyard, on the other hand, has been a wildlife haven. I had a woodchuck living under my deck for years. Regular visitors include raccoons and skunks, fledgling robins and blue jays. I even had tadpoles in my birdbath once (they didn't survive - I think it got too hot that summer, plus the birds thought they were a tasty snack).
