"Straight-Acting"

Just a random thought here, based on my over-the-top "gay apparel" reference in the Rick Perry post.

I was speaking to an older gentleman who was out back in the 70's. He said that people wouldn't have known if he hadn't mentioned it, because they said he was "straight-acting."

This phrase is tossed around a lot, and I think straight people who say it may think that every gay guy walks around all limp-wristed, wearing lipstick and a feather boa and talking with a lisp.

(Gay guys who say this are possibly dealing with some internalized homophobia.)

I think most of my friends know that the lgbt population is just as diverse as the rest of us, but some people are still figuring this out.

I have often been told I can't possibly be gay because I don't remotely fit any of the gay "types", guess I have no business with Draco then, LOL ;-)

The sad thing is most of them are gay and should know better. I think one of the reasons we are here is to show what love can be and that it doesn't have to fit into a type, it can be wholly unconditional.
