I am a woman with opinions. I like to express them. I also make every effort to be polite, especially when I talk about something I do because I feel strongly about it. Just because I make a choice to do something does not mean I'm telling anyone else they have to do it also, or that they are a terrible person for not doing it.

On the other hand, if you attempt to justify something with faulty logic, don't be surprised if I call you on it. And if you are mad about that, maybe it's because you believe deep down that I'm right, and it pisses you off.

If you can't figure out the difference between an opinion and a personal insult, you will have a very hard time making and keeping friends.

Why does it sound like you encountered the customers I deal with on a daily basis>

Poor word choice was the name of the game today. I had a customer tell me I was "raping" her because of the taxes on her bill.

She kinda stopped cold when I suggested to her that as a survivor of sexual assault found her word choice in poor taste. I cannot imagine why she hung up on me ;)

That's rather priceless, I must say.

Yeah, "rape" and "Nazi': two words that should be used a LOT less.

I would agree. I do tend to have a knack for making people stop and think of what they just said.

Another example is a woman who told me "Just wait until your mother is old and frail."

The customer didn't have much to say when I told her I envied her the opportunity to take care of her mother in her advanced years since mine died 15 years ago at the age of 56. Conveniently the customer was also 56. LOL she stuttered a lot.

One of life's hard lessons that people like the Kardashians insist we never learn. Drama is more fun!

That's exactly why I don't watch the Kardashians. ;-)

Oh LOL. :D

I prefer to stay clear of the drama llamas. I've been friends with people like that, and they take up so much more time and energy than they're worth. I have no interest in wasting my time on people who get their panties in a twist over every single little perceived sleight.

Yes, it kinda drains the soul a bit.

This is kind of obvious, isn't it? I'll put up with disagreement, but not blatant disrespect. I don't mind the first, but I loathe the latter. I'm worth more than that.

The difference is not obvious to some, whether they're reading my comment or making their own. And I try to be clear: this is MY choice.

It's like, if someone doesn't believe in abortion for herself, that's fine, because she's just talking about herself. That's not an infringement on me and my choices.
