The problem with tightened government ID requirements is that those sorts of restrictions weren't around when some of us were born, so hospital-issued birth certificates with the correct name - let alone a hospital-issued birth certificate at all - don't always exist.

I will have trouble here, too.

I never changed my Social Security info to my married name. Didn't need to until now. Problem is, our marriage certificate is in German. Called SS office and asked what we will need. We will need to get it translated and certified by the issuing agency, that is in Germany. Or take it to the German embassy here, etc...

Btw, this was never necessary when I got my passport switched. And supposedly they check out all kinds of things on people for that.

Whatever.
This is a situation where change isn't good.
Less rights. More bureaucracy. Just what we need. *sarcasm*

It's stupid. If you can get a passport, that should be good enough for anything else.
