I knew Stacy; I lived there for several years. And, yes.

Yes, indeed.

So....he thinks that making children's lives even harder than they already are is a sound policy? That doesn't make any sort of sense even when I'm wearing my fiscal conservative hat.

He thinks parents should be informed so they can do something to divert their children from this deviant "lifestyle" before it's too late. They should enroll their children in an "ex-gay" therapy program, because that totally works.

Unfortunately, I understand how they think.

You're a reasonable person. That's why this doesn't make any sort of sense.

I don't think it's so much being reasonable as being baffled by this. So many mental health, substance abuse, and other personal assistance programs require confidentiality to be effective. Why does he want to damage the future effectiveness of those programs by proving to school children that everything they say will be used against them?

For a culture that both loves the concept of personal freedom and opposes the idea of "tyranny" this proposal appears to be working at cross purposes to those ideals.

You can't fix stupid when it's willful ignorance.

And you are surrounded by this mentality because he's not living in a vacuum, even though his brain is - people are voting for this guy!

For sure, but the cult of ignorance is slowly but surely being triumphed. The Nashville population historically votes Democratic and somewhat liberal for the South. But we're a blue oasis in a desert of red.

We actually have the same thing here. Obama wins the state because of Philly and Pittsburgh, but federal and state house are dominated by Republicans because rural areas and small towns dominate most districts.
