Yes, it's still going because I'm a procrastinator, along with others I know. *nudges belluthien and homefryes*

• Leave me a comment saying "Resistance is Futile."

• I'll respond by asking you five questions so I can satisfy my curiosity

• Update your journal with the answers to the questions

• Include this explanation in the post and offer to ask other people questions

*edit: I forgot to say these are from mellymel*

1. I know you've been asked a lot of questions either directly or indirectly related to your singing. But what about it do you love the most?

Variety. I like singing different styles and trying different things with my voice. I have sung classic rock and classical, among other things.

2. You seem to be quite adept at portraying characters. Is there anything in particular you do when donning a costume to get into character? Is it challenging to stay in character for long periods?

Thanks! Actually, donning the costume is the main thing that gets me into character. As for staying in character, it depends on two things: who's around and how I'm feeling. When I'm with friends, they often want to talk to me, not Galadriel or whomever. I didn't stay in character very well at ALEP on Saturday night because I was having some issues, and I was in a lot of pain by the time I left. That frustrated the hell out of me.

3. Is there a musician who has influenced you the most?

My whole family influenced me. I wasn't kidding when I said it's in my blood. But I think my greatest influence was my mom, who exposed me to many different kinds of music at an early age.

4. Did you have a particularly embarrassing habit as a child?

Well, I have allergies that give me sinus problems, so pretty much anything disgusting that goes along with that, I did. ;P

5. If you could ask God one question, what would it be?

How close did Darwin come to getting it right?

Jumping in to comment on question #2. I find something you said to be dead on. A lot of times people you know want to talk to ~you~ not the person you are portraying. I have some friends who will also stay in character with me by allowing me to channel said person, but other friends who just want to see me be me but in different clothes. I much prefer staying in character. Well, with small doses of myself ("I would die for a PEPSI! Let's get outta here!" or something like that. OR when I meet someone I haven't seen in a while, then it's like a 5 minute catch-up before heading back to character.)

When I approach people in costume I try to treat them as the character. Bowing, manners, addressing by name/title, etc. I feel more like I am meeting the character if I address them as such. I guess it appeals to my fantasies to actually interact that way.

You know, some people are really super good at being in character, others blow it totally. I much prefer them to stay in character - even if the character is a snob (such as Lucius Malfoy) or rude (Klingons cann be abrasive) or whatever.

I think I typed way more than I meant to! I better go finish taking down the tree.

I also get a little self-conscious doing Galadriel or Bella's accent at places like D*C where there are many actual English people. I can do an English accent pretty well, but I think the dialect changes every few seconds. ;)

And a French accent for Gerard? I don't think I'll ever master that. It probably sounds like Pepe LePew!

Tell me about it! When I do my English accent, which I don't do well to begin with, I always feel inadequate. Still, I do try. I think sometimes the effort counts.

And hey, Pepe rules!

Uh... I love how you sound when you do Galadriel.

And I'm pretty sure you'll get the hang of speaking like Gérard. You did not make me think of Pepe! lol.

And, hehehe, thanks for the nudge.

Galadriel is probably easiest - except Luminara because nobody knows how she talks. ;)

I need to rent more movies with people speaking in French accents. ;)
