NYC Part 1

I was invited the first week in February to a private screening of “STUFFER” in NYC on the 21st. The invitation came from a friend who goes by Troy Tempest on Facebook. In respect of his privacy, I will call him “K” here. K and I have been corresponding online for over two years. I have been wanting to meet him in person, and it was supposed to happen last spring, but it wasn’t meant to be. So I wasn’t going to miss the opportunity not only to see “STUFFER,” but also to meet K at last!

I drove to LaGuardia Airport and took a cab into the city on Saturday. I had dressed for a day into the 30’s, as the Weather Channel had predicted. Let’s just say first off, Weather Channel = Epic FAIL. Two thirds of the way in, I opened my suitcase and grabbed another sweater to put on over my clothes. It was super cold and windy. I was very glad to get into my room at the Hilton.

I was hungry and tired, so I did something I’ve never done before: I ordered room service. They serve breakfast all day, so I had bacon, eggs, fries (hey, they’re just hash browns in a different shape) and toast. Breakfast never tasted so good. For $25, it should have. ;)

Sunday, upon checking LJ, I discovered that amaz0n_princess and rgusmc1 were also in NYC celebrating their anniversary! So I met up with them and macbeemer for brunch.

Afterward, I texted D (K’s partner) and asked where they were. “At the comic book store.” Of course! K’s a big comics fan. So I met them for the first time in K’s element. ;) We went to Starbucks and chatted over hot chocolate, then left and D got in line for a discounted evening show. K and I went back to the hotel and chatted in my room for awhile.

Later, we went to see “Mary Poppins.” It was a fun show. It’s nice to see what can be done with sets on a decent-sized stage and budget. ;) It basically looked like a life-sized doll house – with the outside wall gone so you can see the rooms inside. It was three stories high. When there were scenes on the third floor and roof, that part was lowered to the stage floor.

And since we're all such party animals, after that we went to our rooms to sleep. ;)

This is why I don't follow The Weather Channel! Ever! I find Accuweather to be much more dependable, next to The National Weather Service (www.weather.gov). Sounds like a great time!

I don't actually like either, as they don't give enough detail.

I had a fantastic time!
