Where did this month go? It's been a little rough for me.

First off, PFLAG. I'm involved in three chapters, and their meetings are the first three Sundays of the month now. My local chapter is still not official, but very soon it will be! This spring, we will be in a position to really promote ourselves. :)

There was a summit in Pittsburgh, which I took a day off for. PFLAG, PERSAD (the second oldest lgbt professional counseling organization) and GLSEN (Gay Lesbian Straight Education Network) had a summit to discuss the gap between schools' anti-bullying programs and the bullying that the students continue to experience. We also had a speaker from the Trevor Project, a national lgbt teen suicide hotline. There were many schools and school-related programs represented there. This is just the beginning of a long-term effort.

On the geek side of life, I went to a bowling shindig in Pittsburgh with Starfleet vs. Serenity. There were a few in costume, but most wore geek t-shirts, etc. I got to hang out with a few friends and get caught up on things.

I've seen "The Hobbit" several times, most recently with a friend, who loved it in 3D, and she was spellbound by Galadriel.

On a related note, AL3P is now open for registration!!! And yes, there will be a Dwarf night!

I also went to a Cabaret at a local art gallery, where some friends of mine were singing. The talent in this little town is quite humbling. It’s no wonder the productions at the local playhouse are so good!

Now for the whiny stuff…

I tried to start my diet in earnest about mid-month, and promptly was met with a stomach virus. I never manage the jump-start that the “fast release” portion of this diet is supposed to bring, because I have sugar issues, and/or I get sick. Now I am fighting a cold and major sinus infection. I am still trying, and I have lost a couple of pounds, despite not exercising, so that’s progress anyway.

I have had issues with unforeseen drug interaction problems and a headache that won’t let up. I keep trying to get a handle on both of these, and maybe today will be the day it turns the corner.

And I’m not sure if I’ll go to my brother’s to watch the game tonight, but I am rooting for the Ravens, because several of the 49er’s players have exhibited some blatant homophobia these last few days, and the Ravens have Brendon Ayanbadejo, who has been a vocal lgbt supporter for years. So there you go.

Sorry to hear you've had such a rough month; hope you feel better soon. Randy has a cold; so far I've managed to avoid it this time, after having colds turn into ear infections in September and December! Disappointed that the kids aren't coming over today. I found some great recipes on Pinterest that I'm dying to do, but for two, it's a bit much. Going to do a crock pot mac & cheese, though, and some chicken fingers from scratch (done in panko breadcrumbs and bacon bits)!

Feel better! {hugs}

I don't know what panko breadcrumbs are, but with bacon, you can't really go wrong. ;-)

I have recipes collecting in my diet book that are healthy and look delicious. I just got one in my latest Reader's Digest that is "fried" chicken baked with hummus! Yummus!

Sounds like you've had a mix of the good and the bad. Sorry you have been feeling crappy, I hope your sinus infection and headache clear up soon.

Glad your PFLAG chapter is making some good progress.

I don't give a crap about the Superbowl, but I will side with you and root for the Ravens in principle. I'm personally looking forward to the new Elementary episode after, so I hope the game doesn't run long.

I am feeling better, thanks.

The Superbowl did run long, didn't it? Crazy with the blackout.

I don't have too much invested in the Superbowl, other than the lgbt issue. It was the only football game I watched all year.
